Katelyn Betsill Del Vecchio
B., 1994. Katelyn Betsill Del Vecchio is a Texan oil painter.
Primarily self-taught, Katelyn began studying oils following her move to a rural town in the vast Chihuahuan desert. After observing the desert light, billowing clouds, and shifting shadows, the never-ending challenge of capturing the world around her began.
Del Vecchio believes in creating authentic work that depicts her own personal experiences, featuring landscapes between Texas and New Mexico. Additionally, her background as a biologist helps create narrative portraits of landscapes by subtly incorporating native flora and fauna as a nod to the ecosystems that bring these moments to life.
What started as a pursuit to recreate landscapes in a literal “as is” depiction has morphed into a more relaxed, explorative play with shape, color, and contrast in her finished studio paintings.
She currently lives in Wimberley, Texas, with her husband, Scott, and their two young children.
