
Julian Robles
Western art collectors find Julian Robles (1933-2023) an authentic source for depicting the American West. Julian's love of the West started with his first paintings of it in Texas and Wyoming. After an eight-year absence from painting, teaching and operating his own gallery in New York City, his deepening desire to return to the West to paint its people and the landscape became a reality. Born in New York City of a Spanish father (Andalusia, Spain) and a Lithuanian mother, also an artist, Julian was blessed with early art instruction and feels that he owes much to the distinguished artist-teachers, Dirk Van Driest of Taos, Robert Phillip, N.A., R.A., and Sidney Dickinson, N.A., of New York City.
Many people feel Julian's work is reminiscent of the "Old Taos Masters", but there is a certain quiet force and field of light all his own not commonly painted by many artists.
